AMEC awarded framework contract to support Scottish government resource efficiency programme aimed at saving over £2 billion

AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been appointed by Zero Waste Scotland (Zero Waste) to provide specialist support to the government-funded ‘Resource Efficient Scotland’ programme.
The framework contract, which will run for two years with a potential two-year extension, will involve specialists from AMEC providing technical expertise to policy makers, advisory bodies and Scottish industry in relation to using resources more efficiently. In addition to providing expertise to the three industry sectors of Food & Drink, Hospitality & Tourism, and Public Sector Services (including the NHS), AMEC will also provide support to the overall programme in terms of developing and coordinating associated research projects.
Launched on 1 April 2020, Resource Efficient Scotland, which is managed by Zero Waste, aims to assist businesses, the public and voluntary sectors make more efficient use of energy, water and raw materials, and thereby help deliver over £2 billion of potential savings to the Scottish economy.
“Helping businesses make more efficient use of their resources is critical if governments are to meet their waste prevention and resource efficiency goals and help businesses to meet their own targets,” said Keith Lawton, Associate Director with AMEC’s Environment & Infrastructure business.
“Through this innovative new programme our technical specialists will be able to provide Scottish businesses with free, independent and specialist support to help them realise these savings.”
