Aerojet’s Engines Launch Second GPS Block IIF-2 Satellite

Friday, Jul 22, 2020

Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE: GY) company, announced today that its engines contributed to last weekend’s successful launch of the second Global Positioning System (GPS) Block IIF satellite. Aerojet will continue to provide propulsion throughout the life of the satellite.

GPS IIF-2 was launched aboard a Delta IV rocket with Aerojet thrusters on the upper stage. The satellite includes Aerojet propulsion systems which will be used annually to restore the satellites to their designated orbits and finally to decommission the satellites. Orbiting at an altitude of approximately 12,600 miles, each satellite will complete two orbits a day, following the same ground track every day.

“The Global Positioning System is critical to our nation’s well-being,” said Aerojet Director Scott Miller. “Aerojet is proud of our contribution to changing the way we navigate.”
