Work on Gurguri gas supply line to Chountra begins FP Report

Practical work on the supply of Gurguri gas to Chountra has been started and the work on main transmission line will be completed till December 31, 2009. A written agreement between the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and the elders of district Karak was signed in the office of General Manager (GM) SNGPL Momen Khan at Peshawar on Saturday and Provincial minister for prison Mian Nisar Gul signed the agreement as a guarantor.
One of the elder Rahim Gul Khattak told this scribe here on Sunday that one main transmission line upon work has been initiated would be completed till Mithakhel first and it would be connected with the Suigas Main Station (SMS) Karak Township while the other main transmission line would be completed till Tabbikhw where SMS would be installed for the distribution of gas to the rest of Chountra. He informed that from Tabbikhawa SMS one line would lead to Sabirabad on lower road while another main line would move to Plaso Sar through upper road. Rahim Gul Khattak said that no village on both upper and lower road would be deprived from the provision of Guguri gas but time was the only factor, as some areas would get the facility first while the other some time later. He further informed that work on connection to households would be started at 2011 or early then that as it depend on the supply of the main transmission line to all areas.
The elder informed that the provincial government would deposit its shares of Rs. 50 millions to SNGPL today (Monday). He said that work on the supply of Gurguri gas to different localities of Tehsil Banda Daud Shah would be resumed as the elders of Banda Daud Shah have also signed the agreement with the SNGPL for the supply of gas. He added that if the people of different localities from where the main transmission line was passing offering some resistance to the smooth work of SNGPL then the elders who have signed the agreement with the SNGPL would try their level best to resolve the issues. He said that the FIR lodged against the elders of Banda Daud Shah by the police on the directives of SNGPL would be withdrawn. Rahim Gul Khattak appealed to the people to cooperate with the officials of SNGPL as they were working for the supply of gas to them and any delay in the work would clearly meant the delay in the supply of gas to them.
