The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway announces Dong E&P Norge AS receives consent to conduct exploration drilling in block 3/7

Dong E&P Norge AS (Dong) has received consent to conduct exploration drilling in block 3/7. The well will be drilled with the Mærsk Giant mobile drilling facility.
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted Dong consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 3/7-9S. The objective of the drilling activity is to examine the potential of a prospect in production licence 289, where Dong is the operator.
The plan is to start drilling in January/February 2013 and the activity will have a duration of about 90 days.
The geographical coordinates of the well will be:
56o 26’ 20.84” N
04o 10’ 10.75” E
The drilling location is in the southern part of the North Sea, approx. 235 km southwest of Lista. Water depth at the site is 67 metres.
The well will be drilled using the Mærsk Giant jack-up drilling facility (photo). The facility was built in 1986 at Hiatchi Zosen in Japan. The Maersk Giant is owned and operated by Maersk Drilling. The facility is registered in Denmark and Lloyds is the classification society. The facility received an Acknowledgement of Consent from the PSA in February 2004.
