RBG Assists BP with CATS Pipeline Repair
Friday, Oct 05, 2007
RBG Limited (“RBG”), the life-of-field integrated services contractor to the international oil, gas and petrochemicals industry, recently completed delivery of a fabricated structure for repairs to the BP operated Central Area Transmission System (CATS) pipeline.
Following damage to the pipeline in late June 2007, RBG was requested to provide assistance with the repairs. RBG’s Fabrication division based in Invergordon, Ross-shire, was asked to manufacture a metal sleeve to strengthen and protect the affected area.
Based on engineering drawings, RBG prepared a project schedule to deliver the completed sleeve in a 20 day turnaround. Materials were procured and a core team of 20 people were involved in the sleeve fabrication.
In fact, the sleeve was fabricated, tested and delivered to the CATS terminal in Teesside and to the satisfaction of BP’s project team, within a remarkable 19 days.
“We were able to turn this job around so quickly thanks to the professionalism and expertise of our team here in Invergordon,” explained Ed Stainke, RBG’s Fabrication Business Unit Manager. “The excellent trust and teamwork which were quickly established between the BP project team and our own people also played a key part.”
Doug Sedge, RBG’s Chief Executive Officer commented: “We are delighted to support BP in their efforts to return the CATS pipeline to normal operations.”
