The Eco ES System© uses waste heat from refrigeration systems to heat buildings

HAUSER, the producers of chiller and freezer cabinets for the food and retail industries, has announced that it is introducing its Eco ES (Economic Energy Saving) System© to the UK market.  This energy saving technology, which has been designed for use in food sector refrigeration systems, significantly reduces energy consumption, operating costs and CO₂ emissions.

With Eco ES System©, a supermarket’s refrigeration system can be upgraded to become an extremely energy efficient, integrated refrigeration and heating system.   The award winning Eco ES System© simply feeds the unused waste heat from a supermarket’s refrigeration system back into its heating system; Savings of between 60 to 95 percent in heating costs can be achieved depending on the heat source and the heat distribution system savings.

HAUSER develops all system designs in conjunction with its customers and adapts these concepts to meet customer demands and the specific conditions on site.

Eco ES will be used for the first time in the UK  at the Lidl warehouse in Newton Aycliffe (County Durham). By using all the waste heat from the refrigeration system combined with a heat source, the entire heating requirements for the supermarket or storage premises can be covered.  This completely eliminates the cost of a conventional heating system. And during the summer, the waste heat from the refrigeration system can, for example, be released into the ground using deep probes, cooling the plant at the same time.

“In this way, the system can be designed to optimise costs and operate as efficiently as possible. In addition, the new refrigeration system at Lidl UK helps to reduce the company’s CO₂ footprint,” Thompson concluded about the environmentally friendly approach used by Eco ES System©.
