Lt. Gen. Robert T. Dail to Retire as Director, Defense Logistics Agency

FORT BELVOIR, Va., Nov. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Army Lt. Gen. Robert T. Dail, director of the Defense Logistics Agency since Aug. 2006, is retiring after 33 years of active duty. The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., November 13 at the DLA McNamara Headquarters complex. Media are invited to attend the ceremony.

Army Gen. David Petraeus, Commander, United States Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., will host the retirement ceremony.

As DLA director, Dail is responsible for providing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and other federal agencies with a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical services. These services include logistics information, materiel management, procurement, warehousing and distribution of spare parts, food, clothing, medical supplies and fuel, reutilization of surplus military materiel, and document automation and production. Dail directs the activities of 23,000 civilian and military employees, with Fiscal Year 2008 business revenues of $43.5 billion.

Dail has commanded and led logistics and transportation units at every level, from platoon to corps, across the full range of Army combat capabilities. He also has extensive experience in operational and strategic level logistics. Dail's previous general officer assignments were commanding general, U.S. Army Transportation Center, Fort Eustis, Va.; commanding general, 3rd Corps Support Command, Wiesbaden, Germany; director for Logistics-J4, United States Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.; and director of Operations-J3 and deputy commander, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Dail's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Ranger Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge, the Australian Parachutist Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
