Friday, Oct 23, 2009
INPEX CORPORATION is pleased to announce that it completed the construction of Shin Oumi Line (Natural Gas Pipeline) of Joetsu area, Niigata Prefecture, Japan and held the inauguration ceremony today.
Through our wide-spanning pipeline network covering approximately 1,400 km, we currently supply the natural gas produced in the Minami-Nagaoka Gas Field and the other gas fields in Japan, mainly to the city gas enterprises and commercial/industrial customers in the Tokyo metropolitan area and seven other prefectures spreading peripherally in the center of Honshu Island, Japan.
Through our constructed and operated Oumi Line since 1960, we have been supplying natural gas to the customers around Joetsu area. However, as the demand for natural gas had been steadily growing around the area, we decided Shin Oumi Line construction as the parallel line of Ohmi Line in 2007.
This line will greatly improve stability of natural gas supply in Niigata area. We continue to make our efforts to supply environmental friendly natural gas through our pipeline network.
