Det Norske granted consent to conduct exploration drilling with Songa Delta – well 6507/11-10

Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA has been granted consent to conduct exploration drilling in the Norwegian Sea with the mobile facility Songa Delta.The consent applies to drilling of exploration well 6507/11-10 which is part of production licence 476 and is located about 30 kilometres south of Heidrun (the map).
The well has the following geographical coordinates:
N 65° 05' 35.19", E 7° 35' 47.13". The water depth at the site is 270 metres.
The start-up of drilling activities is expected to be 20 November 2009 at the earliest. The well will be permanently plugged and abandoned.
Songa Delta (formerly Deepsea Delta) is a third generation mobile drilling facility of the Ocean Ranger type, completed at Rauma Repola (Finland) in 1981.
Songa Delta is operated by Odfjell Drilling AS in Bergen.
The facility received a new Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) due to the change of name in June 2009 (link).
