CNOOC Announces Notification of First Batch of Blocks in Offshore China

In 2009, first batch of seventeen Blocks covering an area of 42,020.6 km² are available for cooperation between CNOOC and foreign companies.

(1) Thirteen Blocks in the East of South China Sea

l          Block 04/12

Block 04/12 lies in the Hanjiang sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 3170.3km². Up to now, there are about 1422 km of 2D seismic data in the block. One well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 04/20

Block 04/20 lies in Haifeng Swell of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 3337.8km². Up to now, there are 2912 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Two wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 04/24

Block 04/24 lies in Hanjiang sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 3179.8km². Up to now, there are 2542 km of 2D seismic data in the block. One well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 05/04

Block 05/04 lies in Hanjiang sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 2755.5km². Up to now, there are 1374 km of 2D seismic data in the block. No well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 05/16

Block 05/16 lies in Dongsha Massive of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 3593.9km². Up to now, there are 1567 km of 2D seismic data in the block. No well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 17/03

Block 17/03 lies in Dongsha Massive of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 100m to 200m and covering an area of 3209.5km². Up to now, there are 3698 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Two wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 17/06

Block 17/06 lies in Dongsha Massive of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 100m to 200m and covering an area of 2550.6km². Up to now, there are 3104 km of 2D seismic data in the block. No well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 17/18

Block 17/18 lies in Dongsha Massive of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 200m to 300m and covering an area of 1918.4km². Up to now, there are 2343 km of 2D seismic data in the block. No well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 14/18

Block 14/18 lies in Xijiang Sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 2506.5km². Up to now, there are 2057 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Two wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 15/10

Block 15/10 lies in Xijiang Sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 50m to 100m and covering an area of 3772km². Up to now, there are 3560 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Two wells was drilled in the block.

l          Block 15/28

Block 15/28 lies in Xijiang Sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 200m to 300m and covering an area of 1342km². Up to now, there are 5820 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Six wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 27/03

Block 27/03 lies in Hainan Massive of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 200m to 300m and covering an area of 1778.8km². Up to now, there are 2190 km of 2D seismic data in the block. No well was drilled in the block.

l          Block 27/06

Block 27/06 lies in Enping Sag of Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 200m to 300m and covering an area of 1991km². Up to now, there are 3982 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Four wells were drilled in the block.

(2) Four Blocks in the West of South China Sea

l          Block 22/24

Block 22/24lies in eastern Haitoubei Sag and western Maichen Sag of Beibuwan Basin, with a water depth ranging from 18m to 40m and covering an area of 1847km². Up to now, there are about 4936 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Five wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 23/20

Block 23/20 lies in eastern Maichen Sag and Liusha Uplift of Beibuwan Basin, with a water depth ranging from 18m to 40m and covering an area of 1734.5 km². Up to now, there are 5179 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Four wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 26/20

Block 26/20 lies in Yangjiang Sag and Yangchun Sag of western Pearl River Mouth Basin , with a water depth ranging from 70m to 100m and covering an area of 1269 km². Up to now, there are 1347 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Two wells were drilled in the block.

l          Block 26/21

Block 26/21 lies in Yangjiang Sag and Yangchun Sag of western Pearl River Mouth Basin, with a water depth ranging from 70m to 100m and covering an area of 2064 km². Up to now, there are 3158 km of 2D seismic data in the block. Three wells were drilled in the block.

The data room will open from the date of the publication of the notification to the date of publication of blocks available for foreign cooperation for the next year. Foreign companies may have access to the data room and purchase data under the following procedure:

²         To apply for data viewing in written to Exploration Contact Person.

²         Exploration Contact Person will schedule the time for foreign companies to visit the data room and give the written notice to foreign companies of their respective schedule for data room visit and copy such notice to the principal of data room.

²         Upon receiving the above-mentioned notice from Exploration Contact Person, Foreign companies can directly go to visit the data room in accordance with the relevant provisions of CNOOC at the scheduled time.

²         Foreign companies willing to purchase any data may contact with the principal of data room directly under the data acquisition rules of CNOOC.
