Adamantine, the privately owned East Africa-focused oil and gas exploration company, announces that it has begun its 14,500 line km airborne FTG survey of block 11B following the appointment of BellGeospace, a world leader in gravity gradiometry, as its chosen contractor. Results are expected in August 2013.Block 11B comprises an area of approximately 14,200km and South Gatome basins. The basins are to the north and on trend with the Lokichar Basin where significant oil discoveries have been tested in recent months (Ngamia #1 and Twiga South #1). Analysis of the existing gravity, magnetics and seismic datasets suggest the basins in block 11B are of similar morphology to those of Lokichar and an analogous petroleum play and hydrocarbon charge anticipated.
Commenting on the agreement, Chris Matchette-Downes of Adamantine Energy, said:
“We are delighted to work with BellGeo, the choice was tough as all contractors had significant experience in the region. We believe that gravity-gradiometry data is essential for pre-defining the basins’ potential. This data, together with our other exploration data-sources combine to enable us to incrementally target our exploration efforts within block 11B”.
