Ericsson delivers WCDMA/HSPA network to Kuzey Kibris Turkcell in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) has been selected by the leading operator in Turkish Cyprus, Kuzey Kibris Turkcell, a subsidiary of Turkcell, as the sole supplier of a WCDMA/HSPA network. The move will enable the operator to offer high-speed mobile broadband, including mobile internet, video calls and other advanced multimedia services to its subscribers.

ThyssenKrupp Titanium expands melting capacities: Innovative electron beam furnace starts operation in Essen

ThyssenKrupp Titanium has started operation of an electron beam furnace in Essen. The new unit – Europe’s most advanced titanium melting facility – was officially inaugurated today by Dr. Wolfgang Reiniger, mayor of the City of Essen, Jürgen Fechter, Chairman of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp Stainless, and Dr. Markus Holz, Chairman of the Management Board of ThyssenKrupp Titanium. This innovative furnace significantly increases ThyssenKrupp Titanium’s melting capacities for titanium ingots. Over 30 million euros has recently been invested in various measures to expand production at the Essen site, including the installation of an additional vacuum arc furnace at the end of 2006. “This will enable us to participate actively in the growth of the titanium market and will position us strongly in the attractive aerospace and plant engineering segments, where customers above all value reliable supplies from within Europe,” said Fechter at the production start-up.

Uranium One Establishes Australian Joint Ventures with Mitsui

Vancouver, British Columbia and Johannesburg, South Africa – Uranium One Inc. today announced that it has reached agreement with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. of Japan to create joint ventures in relation to the Australian assets of Uranium One. Under the agreement, Mitsui will acquire a 49% interest in the Honeymoon project and the company’s Australian exploration portfolio. This includes the Goulds Dam and Billeroo projects, as well as other prospective tenements on the Stuart Shelf and the Eyre Peninsula.

Petrobras announces oil discovery in deep Angolan waters

PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A – PETROBRAS, [Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR/PBRA, Latibex: XPBR/XPBRA, BCBA: APBR/APBRA], a Brazilian international energy company, announces that an oil discovery has been made in Block 15/06, in deep Angolan waters.The discovery was made in well N´Goma-1, which is located some 350 kilometers away from Luanda. Sonangol E.P. is the block’s Concessionaire, while Eni Angola is the operator, with 35% stake.

AMEC expands into offshore oil and gas decommissioning through cooperation agreement with SeaMetric

AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, and the marine heavy lifting company SeaMetric International AS, have signed a cooperation agreement to provide a new international offshore decommissioning service for clients. The combination of skills from the two companies will provide a unique decommissioning service for maturing offshore oil and gas facilities.

BASF adds Copolymer to medical technology plastics

As of August 1st, BASF has added another plastic specialty for the medical technology sector to its product range: Luran® HD is the first SAN (styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer) to be offered along with BASF’s HD services. HD stands for Healthcare and Diagnostics. In comparison to other transparent materials, Luran is more resistant to chemicals, stiffer, easier to process and offers high resistance to fluctuations in temperature. This material is already available in commercial quantities.
