“It just lasts and lasts..!” It constantly takes LHR Marine by surprise just how well Dynex Mooring, Marine and Towing Ropes last in so many different applications. On board pelagic vessel Ingunn AK-150 there is a 20 metre length of 10mm Dynex rope that is used to move the water separator, depending on which tank the fish is being pumped into. This rope is used on a doubled winch drum and runs to the separator, running from there to a block on the wheelhouse side and over to another winch drum on the forward side. This is done to reduce the tension on the rope and to do away with any danger of it parting – and for just these reasons a length of steel wire was used before the Dynex rope replaced it.
The steel wire never did part, but instead had to be replaced every six months as it would rust. Now, after six years, the Dynex is practically as good as new. However, it was replaced when a spring link - that the Dynex rope was spliced into on the separator - failed due to rust damage and was replaced last winter. According to relief skipper and mate Róbert Axelsson, the rope would probably have stayed there if the spring link hadn’t failed. As he said, “Dynex just lasts and lasts”. For LHR Marine, this is another example of how well Dynex deserves its reputation as a SuperRope and performs fantastically even when unprotected against wind, weather and sea water from one year’s end to the next.

Are you looking for a provider of High Pressure Riser Systems in Asia? Aquaterra Energy are a leading provider of High Pressure Riser Systems in Asia and throughout the world.
What does the HP Drilling Riser System comprise?
The Riser System provides a conduit between the subsea wellhead / tree and the rig’s surface BOP stack. The summary components are:
1. H4 Style Subsea Connector - including Control Line Umbilical & Reeler, HPU Control Panel and Test Stump.
2. Stress Joint - to interface with Subsea Connector.
3. Intermediate and Pup Joints to suit spaceout.
4. Tension Joint - provides connection to BOP and has load rings which interface with tensioning system.
5. Landing Joint - used to land out the riser and perform pressure test.
6. Quick Connects - interface between Tension Jt, Landing Jt, and BOP / BOP Test Stump significantly reducing rig time.
The riser itself comprises:
- 5k system - 24” x 1 ½” wall pipe.
- 10k system - 25” x 2 ½” wall pipe.
- Oil States Merlin Connectors.
- Full bore access with large running clearances.
- Stress joint is designed to withstand the typically high loads experienced immediately above the H4 connector to which it provides the interface to the rest of riser string.
- Pup joints and intermediate joints are provided to accurately spaceout between the wellhead / tree and rig’s BOP.
- Tension Joint provides the final interface between the riser, the rig’s BOP and the tensioning system and is also used to land out the string via the running tool.
Why choose Aquaterra?
- Specialists in the design, supply and installation of High Pressure, full bore drilling risers with a proven track record.
- Since the early 1990’s our personnel have pioneered the development of these risers which are now generally regarded as the market leaders in their field.
- Our riser services have been supplied worldwide to the likes of BP and Apache.
- Equipment and personnel on the ground and ready to go.
- Dedicated, in-house team of Drilling Riser Engineers to handle the complete scope of supply including Riser Analysis, Structural Design, FEA, Project Management, QHSE, Inspection, Testing, Offshore Procedure Optimisation and finally Offshore Installation.
- We believe our fatigue management is unique and essential to ensure system integrity. We know the running history, location and fatigue life of every system component. Extensive fatigue testing has also been performed on critical areas.
- Our understanding from analysis to installation makes Aquaterra THE High Pressure Drilling Riser Specialist in this field.
World’s First 10,000 psi, 25” x 2 ½” wall, high pressure Riser with Oil States’ Merlin Connectors
Aquaterra are proud to present the World’s First 10,000 psi, full bore (20” I.D.) drilling riser complete with Oil States Merlin Connectors. Building upon the success of the 5,000 psi system, Aquaterra has a unique agreement in place with Oil States and are the only service company providing this rental system to the market. The 10K system is essentially a more robust version of the market leading 5K riser. Rigorous design, analysis, pressure, tensile and fatigue testing has been undertaken. To cope with the increased pressure and anticipated environmental loads, the joints are fully forged with a wall thickness of 2 ½” and the overall dimensions of the Merlin Connector have increased significantly.
Why choose the Aquaterra Riser System?
Why choose anything else? The alternatives are flanged connectors which are more difficult to handle offshore and take a considerable amount of rig time to make up. A typical 18 ¾” API flange takes many hours to make up compared to the Merlin Connector’s 5 minutes. This additional time is repeated during retrieval. A typical Merlin riser run and retrieval can save in excess of 2-3 days rig time compared to a flanged riser.
The Merlin is a tried and tested, field proven design which has been run thousands of times in the harshest of environments around the World. It has high bending and tensile capacities, repeatable make up and break out capability and extremely high fatigue performance. All of these are essential to ensure integrity and longevity in the high fatigue and harsh environments they will be subjected to.

RRC has developed a set of interface units to allow communication with a range of third party subsea equipment. As well as interfacing with RRC subsea devices, these interface units can talk to GEC and several generations of Kvaerner modules. In addition, these units allow RRC’s subsea modules to interface with existing surface control systems.
RRC Interface Units - Salient Data
We have developed three topsides interface products and associated software:-
· Interface 1024 – this unit allows communication with early GEC Subsea Control Modules
· Interface 2000LS – similar to the 1024 but allows communication with FSSL© second generation SCMs
· Interface 3000 - similar to the units mentioned above but allows communication with FSSL© third generation SCMs as fitted in many installations worldwide
(Note FFSL is a registered trademark of Aker Kvaerner Subsea Ltd).

Are you looking for a provider of offshore adhesives in Brazil ? Champion Environ are a leading supplier of offshore adhesives in Brazil and throughout South America.
Biohesive® 225 is a high performance Silicone RTV adhesive sealant for use with Champion Environ’s anti-fouling subsea marker systems. It is a rapid curing adhesive, skinning within a few minutes and curing overnight, depending on the ambient conditions.
One of the major advantages offered by Biohesive® 225 is that it can be used in geographical locations with high temperatures (>30°C/85°F) and/or high humidity (75% +) without causing significant performance issues, although the skinning time will reduce. The adhesive becomes more viscous in cold conditions but is still useable so long as the temperature is above 2°C (36°F).
Biohesive® 225’s pasty consistency allows it to be used in vertical and overhead applications. In its cured state it is tough yet extremely flexible, allowing its use in applications where rigid adhesives would not be considered.
As a single component adhesive, it requires no mixing or metering of curatives, instead relying on atmospheric moisture to cure. This means that the application of Biohesive® 225 is very straightforward, using just a basic caulking gun (also known as a mastic or skeleton gun). Biohesive® 225 is supplied in a 310ml cartridge to match the most common size of caulking guns.
