Fugro completes two key tasks on Gwynt Y Môr

Fugro successfully completes the trenching and burial of inter-array cables for CT Offshore and provides unexploded ordnance (UXO) survey support at the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm.

Once complete, RWE Innogy’s 160-turbine Gwynt y Môr, in the Irish Sea off the North Wales coast, will be the second largest offshore wind farm in the world.  Read more…

QT1400 Over 100km Trenched

Fugro Salt Subsea took delivery of the 40t tonne QTrencher 1400 pipeline and Flexible product trenching ROV in summer 2012. The vehicle has since trenched over 100km of subsea Products (cables umbilicals, flexible pipelines), achieved trench depths from 400mm to 1800mm and speeds of up to 800m/hr. In order to understand the fatigue caused by metocean factors and to estimate remaining life of drilling and completion risers, riser monitoring systems are often installed. Although the global response data delivered by motion sensors make them the most popular approach for riser monitoring applications, strain gauges can also be used to measure local bending and curvature. These can be particularly useful where riser analysis highlights a specific area of concern. Strain gauges have been used for many years in the offshore industry, with a large number applications installed on a range of riser types.
