A new jobs website targeting the oil and gas industry has recently gone live after much anticipation. www.oilandgaspeople.com promises to revolutionise the recruitment industry and follows a new model designed to offer candidates and recruiters a better solution.

Speaking to Your Oil and Gas News, website owner Kevin Forbes said: “We went live to recruiters just over 2 weeks ago and the response so far has been fantastic. We now have over 400 recruiters registered and posting jobs on the site. Our model allows them to post jobs for free and to be instantly matched to suitable and available candidates. We take away all the problems with traditional job boards and other long established oil and gas job sites, which have changed little over the years”

For candidates looking for work the site offers many benefits. In a first for any job site, candidate’s profiles become their own free online CV. With profiles fully optimised to appear in online search results and candidates able to link to their profile when applying for oil and gas jobs, Oil and Gas People promises candidates much more exposure.

Kevin Forbes went on to say: “Now candidates don’t have to be constantly searching for jobs. By marking their status as available they will automatically be matched to positions posted by recruiters. Our match process is very advanced and allows recruiters to find the exact people they need. They don’t have to worry about searching an out of date database of candidates or even have to rely on candidates responding to their job ads.”

Your Oil and Gas News has had exclusive access to the site and was immensely impressed by the features on offer. Recruiters can in effect use the site as their own database and candidate management system. All candidates associated with a job can be easily viewed under that position. Candidates can then be short listed, marked as favourites or deleted from the job. An option is available to add private notes to candidate’s profiles which can be viewed any time in the future.

While candidates can still apply for positions, just hitting the match button after uploading a job gave us a whole list of available candidates who met our requirements. We were able to scroll through a simple but detailed preview of each candidate before accessing their full profile if they looked a good match. We were even presented with candidate’s certificates and references to allow further advanced screening.
