First Wind scholars program awards 16 scholarship grants in 2012

First Wind, an independent U.S.-based wind energy company, today announced that students from sixteen high schools across the country will be awarded a scholarship through the company’s signature First Wind Scholars program. The 2012 recipients were selected from the program’s most competitive pool in its three-year history, and represented project host communities in Hawaii, Maine, New York, Utah, Vermont and Washington and the company’s Boston headquarters. Gallic Energy Ltd. provides an operations update on the Ossun-2D Well and initiates drilling plans for the Hagolle-2 Well in France

Gallic Energy Ltd. (“Gallic” or “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:GLC) announces that it has temporarily suspended completion operations at its Ossun-2D well located in Southern France. The Ossun-2D well was successfully drilled to a total depth of 3,050 m and subsequently cased and cemented after open-hole logs indicated characteristics of hydrocarbon bearing formations in both the Upper Cretaceous Flysch Carbonate and the Dano-Paleocene. Wellbore information confirmed the 200 m thickness, porosity, resistivity, and calculated hydrocarbon saturation of the Upper Cretaceous Flysch Carbonate zone as the primary zone of interest. Formation imaging logs identified fracturing in the target limestone zone, including a 17-m thick interval with perpendicular, intersecting fracture sets. The presence of natural fracture permeability was further confirmed when 9.1 m3 of drilling mud was lost into the Upper Cretaceous. Read more…

Willbros awarded construction contract for hydrogen pipeline

HOUSTON, May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Willbros Group, Inc. (NYSE: WG) announced today that a unit of its Oil & Gas segment has been awarded a contract by Praxair, Inc. to construct 52 miles of 12-inch pipeline. The hydrogen pipeline will originate at Praxair’s plant in Geismar, Louisiana and will terminate at Valero’s refinery in Norco, Louisiana.
