The Dangers of Not Sending a Fall Arrest Block to an Authorised Service Centre

Fall Arrest Blocks can be extremely hazardous if opened and tampered with by anyone without appropriate training.  This was recently highlighted at LHR Marine, when they received a DBI-SALA Fall Arrest Block that had been opened.  Fall Arrest Blocks have a metal motor spring loaded in the case that is stored at a high tension.  If this is released, as well as giving the user a shock due to high noise, there is a high chance the user will receive a serious injury.  It is comparable to an extreme Jack in Box exploding in your face.  The coiled spring is also surprisingly long – as shown in the picture above – therefore increasing the chance of injury further.  According to The Work at Height Safety Association (2006): Read more…

Enterprise and Energy Transfer Terminate Proposed Joint Venture

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE: EPD) today announced it will not be moving forward with a proposed joint venture with Energy Transfer Partners L.P. to develop and construct a 584-mile crude oil pipeline from Cushing, Oklahoma to Houston. While the recently completed binding open commitment period generated significant shipper interest, agreements with the capacity and terms necessary to commercially support the project as planned were not sufficient. Enterprise remains committed to developing a crude oil pipeline from Cushing to the Gulf Coast and will continue to work with potential shippers to secure additional support for the project.
