Max Petroleum announces third successful well drilled in Uytas Field

Max Petroleum Plc, an oil and gas exploration and development company focused on Kazakhstan, is pleased to announce today that the UTS-3 confirmation well in the Uytas Field has reached a total depth of 825 metres, with electric logs indicating a total of 31 metres of net oil pay in Cretaceous and Jurassic formations. This includes 17 metres of net oil pay in Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs at depths ranging from 120 to 150 metres, with porosities ranging from 25% to 34%. In addition, 14 metres of pay are indicated in Jurassic reservoirs at depths ranging from 422 to 509 metres. The Company will complete and test the well using a workover rig after obtaining the requisite governmental approvals. The Company plans to drill one additional appraisal well in the field during September 2011 and acquire a high-fold 3D seismic survey over the Uytas structure in October 2011, in order to facilitate preparation of a long-term appraisal and development programme for the field. Samson Oil & Gas Advises on Hawk Springs Acreage Acquisition and Defender Drilling Progress

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (ASX: SSN) (NYSE AMEX: SSN) advises it has been awarded, on a conditional basis, approximately 956 net acres of leasehold offered by competitive tender from the University of Wyoming. This land is part of the University’s agricultural research facility. Because the acreage is within Samson’s propriety 3-D seismic coverage, Samson had a significant advantage by being knowledgeable about the rock qualities in the area. Samson has also been successful in acquiring additional acreage in the State of Wyoming’s lease sales as well as leasing acreage from fee owners. Accordingly, Samson has now increased its holding to 17,489 net acres in the Hawk Springs area. Total announces Pazflor one of the world’s largest ever deepwater development, comes on stream in Angola

Total, operator of Block 17, today announced that the giant Pazflor field offshore Angola has come on stream ahead of the initial schedule. The Pazflor field lies 150 kilometres off Luanda in water depths ranging from 600 to 1,200 metres and has estimated proved and probable reserves of 590 million barrels. The field will gradually ramp up to its full production capacity of 220,000 barrels per day over the coming months. Read more…
