AngloGold Ashanti to Acquire Interest in First Uranium from Village Main Reef

First Uranium Corporation (TSX:FIU), (JSE:FUM) (ISIN:CA33744R1029) (“First Uranium” or “the Company”) today announced that AngloGold Ashanti Limited (“AngloGold”) reported that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 47,065,916 shares (the “FIU Shares”) in First Uranium held by Village Main Reef Limited (“Village”), for CAD$0.60 per share.  This equates to a 19.79% interest in First Uranium. Village has also granted to AngloGold lock-up rights and rights of first refusal in respect of Village’s remaining 5.7% equity stake in the Company and approximately ZAR392.8 million principal amount of secured convertible notes issued by Mine Waste Solutions (Proprietary) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company. Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. Announces Binding Open Season for Project Mariner West

Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. (NYSE: SXL) today announced that it will commence a binding Open Season for Project Mariner West. Mariner West is a pipeline project developed jointly by Sunoco Logistics and MarkWest Liberty Midstream & Resources, LLC, a partnership between MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. (NYSE: MWE) and The Energy & Minerals Group to deliver ethane from the liquid-rich Marcellus Shale processing and fractionation areas in Western Pennsylvania to Marysville, Michigan and the international border near Marysville, Michigan. The project is anticipated to have an initial capacity to transport up to 50,000 barrels per day of ethane and can be scaled to support higher volumes as needed. Mariner West is scheduled to be operational by July 2013 to meet the expectations of the ethane producers and consumers. Read more…

Songa Offshore Announces Letter of Award from a Major Oil Operator

Songa Offshore SE (“Songa” or “the Company”) is pleased to announce that the Company has received a Letter of Award (“LOA) from one of the Major Oil Operator’s of West Africa for its newbuild ultra-deepwater semisubmersible, Songa Eclipse.  The LOA is for an 18 month plus 1 well firm term in direct continuation of rig delivery from Jurong shipyard, and is subject to partner and relevant government approval.  The firm part of the contract has an aggregated revenue value of approximately USD 268 million with the addition of some client requested upgrades. The agreement further provides for three one-year options of escalated day rate, and these are exercisable at the Operator’s discretion.  Read more…

Olin Chlor Alkali Products Charleston Plant Breaks Ground for New $160 Million Manufacturing Facilities

Cleveland-based Olin Chlor Alkali Products, a division of Olin Corporation (NYSE: OLN), broke ground today at its plant in Charleston, TN, for a new state-of-the-art membrane cell manufacturing facility. Olin is investing $160 million in the new facility, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2012. When completed, the new facility will produce the highest quality chlorine, caustic soda and related products and have a capacity of 200,000 tons, including an expansion of the plant’s production of potassium hydroxide (KOH). The technology change will allow the plant to meet the growing need for KOH that is important to the production of food, fertilizers, herbicides, soaps, detergents, airplane de-icing fluids and other key products. Once installation of the new technology is in place at the Charleston plant in 2012, mercury will not be a part of the manufacturing process. Read more…

Riva Announces Exploration and Drill Results for its Honey Camp Property

Riva Gold Corporation (TSX-V: RIV) (“Riva” or “the Company”) announces results from its mapping, trenching and diamond drill program on its Honey Camp Property.  Three historical vein systems, the Rainbow, Alma and Camp veins,  located within a 2.4 kilometre by 0.9 kilometre area on the Honey Camp Property (the “Area”), were tested by mapping and trenching followed by 16 diamond drill holes totalling 2,886 metres (of which two holes were abandoned due to poor ground conditions). Two additional historical vein systems within the Area, the Brian & Brenda and Sobers Hills veins, were examined by mapping and trenching. The five historic vein systems are all hosted in sheared, quartz-carbonate alteration zones, cross-cutting lavas, tuffs and sediments. Read more…
