First Wind celebrates the five-year anniversary of commercial operations for Kaheawa Wind Power

First Wind, an independent U.S.-based wind energy company, and its partner Makani Nui Associates, today commemorated the five-year anniversary of successful commercial operations of their 30 MW Maui-based Kaheawa Wind Power I (KWP I) project. As Maui’s first utility-scale wind project, KWP I has generated nearly 563 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity since it went online on June 22, 2006 – the equivalent amount of energy from a traditional fossil fuel facility would have required over 902,604 barrels of oil. The project is also notable for its first-in-industry Habitat Conservation Plan, ensuring the protection of bird, bat and plant species that might have been affected during construction and operations. China’s May oil demand robust at 9.31 Mil b/d, but inventories rising

China’s apparent oil demand* in May reached 39.4 million metric tons (mt) or an average of 9.31 million barrels per day (b/d), which was 8% higher year on year, as state-owned enterprises continued to increase output to meet local market supply needs, according to a Platts analysis based on recent statistics released by the Chinese government. Vanguard Natural Resources to acquire Permian Basin oil and gas properties

Vanguard Natural Resources, LLC (NYSE: VNR) (“Vanguard” or “the Company”) today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire an undivided fifty percent interest in producing oil and gas assets in the Permian Basin of West Texas for a net purchase price of $42.5 million from a private seller. The other fifty percent interest in the assets is being acquired by Encore Energy Partners, LP, of which Vanguard is the general partner. The interests to be acquired by Vanguard have estimated total net proved reserves of 2.74 million barrels of oil equivalent, of which approximately 70% are oil and natural gas liquids reserves. The properties being acquired are 100% proved developed. At closing of this transaction, Vanguard’s net production attributable to the assets being acquired should be approximately 500 Boe/d. The effective date of the acquisition is May 1, 2011 and the Company anticipates closing this acquisition on or before August 1, 2011. Read more…

Foster Wheeler awarded feasibility study by Sasol for Gas-to-Liquids project in Canada

Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced today that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Sasol to perform the technical portion of a feasibility study for a planned gas-to-liquids facility in Canada, on behalf of the Sasol/Talisman Energy partnership. Energy Transfer Partners and Regency Energy Partners announce new NGL pipeline project from West Texas as part of its Lone Star joint venture

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. (NYSE: ETP) and Regency Energy Partners LP (NASDAQ: RGNC) today announced that Lone Star NGL LLC (“Lone Star”) will construct an approximately 530-mile natural gas liquids (“NGL”) pipeline that extends from Winkler County in west Texas to the Jackson County processing plant in Jackson County, Texas. AWE’s Arrowsmith-2 drilling update

AGR Field Operations has been awarded a major contract to perform a subsea inspection of offshore facilities in the Bass Strait of Australia. This significant scope of work involves an ROV based general visual inspection and a cathodic protection survey as well as installation work. Alliance Pipeline to build natural gas lateral in North Dakota

Alliance Pipeline L.P. (“Alliance”) today announced plans to develop a pipeline and associated facilities in North Dakota to transport liquids-rich natural gas. Hess Corporation has entered into a precedent agreement with Alliance for service on the proposed 80-mile lateral pipeline, which would connect production from Hess’ gas processing facility in Tioga, ND to the Alliance mainline near Sherwood, ND, for onward shipment to the Chicago market hub. Canacol Energy Ltd. Initiates Heavy Oil Exploration Drilling Program in Colombia

Canacol Energy Ltd. (“Canacol” or the “Corporation”) (TSX:CNE) (BVC:CNEC) is pleased to announce the start of its heavy oil exploration drilling program on its Tamarin and Cedrela Exploration and Production (“E&P”) contracts located in the Caguan – Putumayo Basin in Colombia. The Corporation has 100% working interest and is operator of both contracts, which represent approximately 388,000 net acres. The Corporation plans to drill two stratigraphic wells, one on each of the Tamarin and Cedrela contracts, in a back to back drilling campaign that will commence in mid July 2011.
