GRI Research Board announces request for proposals for BP’s $500 Million Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative

BP and the Gulf of Mexico Alliance announced today that the independent Research Board of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GRI) has released its Request for Proposals for studies into the effects of the Deepwater Horizon incident and the potential associated impact on the environment and public health. China North East Petroleum completes Shengyuan acquisition

China North East Petroleum Holdings Ltd. (the “Company” or “NEP”) (NYSE Amex: NEP), a leading independent oil producing and oilfield services company in Northern China, today announced it has completed its acquisition (the “Acquisition”) of Sunite Right Banner Shengyuan Oil and Gas Technology Development Co., Ltd. (“Shengyuan”), a company organized and operating under the laws of the People’s Republic of China(“PRC”) in accordance with the Share Transfer Agreement, dated as of January 19, 2011, by and among the Company’s subsidiary, Songyuan North East Oil Technical Services Co. Ltd. (“Songyuan Technical”) and the shareholders of Shengyuan, and in accordance with the Share Issuance Agreement, dated as ofJanuary 19, 2011 by and among the Company, the former Shengyuan shareholders, and Bellini Holdings Management Ltd., a company owned by the former Shengyuan shareholders and organized and existing under the laws of the British Virgin Islands (“Bellini”). As a result of the Acquisition, Shengyuan is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Songyuan. Pursuant to a 25 year lease signed in 2010, Shengyuan has exclusive oilfield exploration and drilling rights to the Durimu oilfield in Inner Mongolia. Read more…

Max Petroleum announces commencement of drilling of ZMA-ET2 appraisal well

Max Petroleum Plc, an oil and gas exploration and development company focused on Kazakhstan, is pleased to announce that the Company has commenced drilling the ZMA-ET2 appraisal well further to the south of the recently drilled ZMA-ET1 well with the objective to further extend Triassic production and reserves in the Zhana Makat Field on Block E. GT Solar receives $93.9 million order for polysilicon production equipment and technology from Taiwan-based Powertec Energy Corporation

GT Solar International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOLR), a global provider of polysilicon production technology, and sapphire and silicon crystalline growth systems and materials for the solar, LED and other specialty markets, today announced that it has received a $93.9 million order from Taiwan-based polysilicon producer Powertec Energy Corporation for a complete suite of polysilicon production equipment and technology including SDR™ 400 reactors, hydrochlorination, filament and product processing equipment. The equipment will be installed in Powertec’s new polysilicon facility which is expected to begin production in 2012. The order will be included in GT Solar’s backlog for its current Q1 FY12, which ends on July 2, 2011. Read more…
