Statoil announces oil find off Brazil

Marathon Signs Agreement for Sale of Its Interests in PL 025, PL 048E and PL 187 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf

Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE: MRO), through its wholly owned subsidiary Marathon Petroleum Norge AS, today announced the signing of a sales agreement with Statoil Petroleum AS for all of Marathon’s interests in production licenses PL 025, PL 048E and PL 187 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The transaction has a value of $85 million USD and an effective date of Jan. 1, 2011. The companies expect completion of the transaction in the first quarter of 2011, subject to Norwegian governmental approval. Read more…

Central Petroleum Announces Shale Gas And Shale Oil Potential In The Southern Georgina Basin

Central Petroleum Limited (ASX:CTP) (“the Company” or “Central”), has previously announced in-house estimates of shale gas and shale oil potential in some of it’s application areas in the Southern Georgina Basin as being up to 80 TCFG UGIIP and up to 650 MMbbls UOIIP. (SPE “high” estimate undiscovered gas and oil initially in place respectively). The applications concerned are ATPs 909, 911 and 912 covering approximately 17,000 km2 in the deeper portions of the Toko Syncline where the Arthur Creek Shale source rocks are interpreted to be the deepest and thickest. ABB wins offshore oil & gas contracts totaling $42 million

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has won several orders collectively worth $42 million to provide power supply infrastructure and equipment for several floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels. The vessels will produce crude oil off the coast of Brazil; they will be operated by several oil and gas producers, with Petrobras as the end customer. Completion of Solar Power Generation System Donated by MHI

On December 17 a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a solar power generation system donated by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) took place at the Dong Anh-Okinawa Economic and Cultural Exchange Center (DOWACEN) in Hanoi, a facility that also provides Japanese language teaching. MHI donated the system, which consists of tandem-type photovoltaic (PV) modules and peripheral equipment, to DOWACEN in accordance with the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, one theme of which is to support emerging countries through its products. The solar power generation system will provide electricity for classroom lighting and enable uninterrupted teaching even during power outages. Read more…
