CAMAC Energy Announces Gas Discovery on the Zijinshan, China Asset

CAMAC Energy Inc. (NYSE Amex:CAK), a U.S.-based energy company engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas, today announced the positive results from the ZJS-02 well that was successfully drilled to a total depth of 1784 meters. WG GTS awarded EPC contract

Wood Group GTS has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract valued at approximately $875 million from Dorad Energy to build an 800-megawatt power plant in Israel. The natural gas-fired Dorad Power Plant is expected to be online within 36 months and when completed will represent approximately eight per cent of Israel’s total installed power generation capacity. NRG Solar and SunPower Agree to Build 250-Megawatt California Valley Solar Ranch

NRG Solar, a subsidiary of NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NRG) and SunPower Corp. (Nasdaq: SPWRA, SPWRB) today announced groundbreaking agreements to begin construction next year of the 250-megawatt (MW) California Valley Solar Ranch in San Luis Obispo County. The solar power plant is expected to create approximately 350 jobs during construction, will power about 100,000 homes and will be one of the largest photovoltaic solar power plants in the world, when complete. NRG Solar plans to invest up to $450 million of equity in the project over the next four years, subject to final total project cost and negotiation of the financing terms and conditions. Read more…

EWT confirms oil discovery in the Amazon

Petrobras announces that the first data obtained from the Extended Well Test (EWT), which got underway in September at exploratory well 1-ICB-1-AM (Igarapé Chibata No. 1), confirms the discovery of a new accumulation of light oil (46º API) and natural gas in the city of Tefé (state of Amazonas), 630 km away from the city of Manaus and 32 km from the Urucu oil province.  The Company already has three fields producing oil and natural gas in the city of Coari. Greenland announced today that Maersk Oil has been awarded a licence covering Block 9 in Baffin Bay, offshore West Greenland. The frontier exploration block is 11,802 sq km – about one fourth of the total size of Denmark. Nunaoil, Greenland’s national oil company, will be a partner with a 12.5% interest. Read more…
