New growth for Shell in Upstream Americas

Royal Dutch Shell plc (“Shell”) reconfirmed strong momentum in its businesses in the Americas for a group of shareholders and analysts today, visiting Upstream assets in Canada. Shell’s oil & gas production in the region could reach 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2014, an increase of some 40% on current levels, subject to the pace of investment, which could be some $40 billion for the 2011-14 period.

E.ON sees energy plan as an important step for Germany’s energy future

E.ON sees the German Government’s energy plan as an important step for Germany’s energy future. As the first European nation, the German Government presented a framework which will transform energy supplies over the next few decades and supports a European low-carbon economy, which looks to avoid 80 to 95 percent of greenhouse gas emissions by the middle of this century. “The energy plan outlines a step-by-step transition from today’s mainly fossil-fuelled energy supply to a low-carbon future, based mainly on renewables. This is extremely ambitious and the German Government has rightly pointed out that this can only be achieved with a stable global and European framework,” said Johannes Teyssen, Chairman of the Board of Management of E.ON.

Nexen Announces Resource Estimate for Appomattox in the Gulf of Mexico

In the first quarter of this year, we made a significant discovery in the deep-water Gulf of Mexico at Appomattox, located in Mississippi Canyon blocks 391 and 392. Drilling activities resulted in an oil discovery with excellent reservoir quality following an exploration well and two appraisal sidetracks. Based on the results of this drilling, our estimate of recoverable contingent resource for this discovery exceeds 250 million barrels of oil equivalent with upside potential. Once drilling resumes in the Gulf of Mexico, we plan to further appraise Appomattox.
