Tullow completes the acquisition of Heritage’s Ugandan assets

Tullow Oil plc (“Tullow”) announces that on 26 July 2010, Tullow Uganda Limited (“Tullow Uganda”), a subsidiary of Tullow, has completed the US$1.35 billion acquisition of a 50% interest in Blocks 1 and 3A in Uganda from Heritage Oil & Gas Limited (“HOGL”) with an additional contractual settlement amount of US$100 million.

Samson Oil & Gas Limited (ASX: SSN) (NYSE AMEX: SSN) advises that the closing of its June 24th agreement to sell 24,166 acres in Goshen County, Wyoming, for a cash purchase price of between $61 million and $79 million has been delayed by the effects of the extraordinary increase in leasing activity in Goshen County. In order to give the purchaser an opportunity to review the land title records in Goshen County, to which access is currently being limited by the County because of a flood of requests, the parties have agreed that the buyer will deposit $10 million with Samson on August 5th, with the balance of the cash due on a final closing date of September 5th.

Fluor Reports Record New Awards of $9.3 Billion, Boosting Backlog to $30.2 Billion

Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) today announced financial results for its second quarter ended June 30, 2010. Net earnings attributable to Fluor were $157 million, or $0.87 per diluted share, compared with $169 million or $0.93 per diluted share for the same period last year. Segment profit for the quarter was $262 million, compared with $309 million in the second quarter of 2009, driven mainly by strength in Industrial & Infrastructure and Power which was offset by lower results in Oil & Gas. Segment margin was 5.1 percent, compared with 5.8 percent a year ago. Revenue was $5.2 billion in the second quarter of 2010, just under last year’s $5.3 billion.

Key Energy Services Enters into Agreement to Expand its Coiled Tubing, Rig Service, and Fluids Management Businesses

Key Energy Services, Inc. (NYSE:KEG) reached an agreement to purchase certain subsidiaries, together with associated assets, owned by OFS Energy Services, LLC (“OFS”), a privately-held oilfield services company of ArcLight Capital Partners, LLC (“ArcLight”), for approximately 15.8 million shares of Key common stock and approximately $75.6 million cash (which is subject to working capital and other adjustments at closing). The transaction is anticipated to close during the third quarter of 2010, subject to customary closing conditions, including the termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act. Upon closing, OFS will own approximately 11% of Key’s outstanding shares.

Anadarko Announces Discovery Offshore Ghana

Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) today announced another significant discovery offshore Ghana at the Owo prospect in the Deepwater Tano Block. The discovery well encountered approximately 174 net feet of high-quality oil pay in two zones of stacked Turonian-age reservoir sands contained within a gross vertical reservoir interval of more than 500 feet. Pressure data indicates that these zones are part of the same accumulation, and the oil appears to be light crude between 33 and 36 degrees API.
