BAE Systems’ New Chief Executive Takes The Helm

London, United Kingdom – Ian King today starts his new role as Chief Executive of BAE Systems, having previously held the position of Chief Operating Officer UK and Rest of World. Ian’s appointment was announced in June 2008 following the conclusion of an international benchmarking succession process. BAE Systems’ former Chief Executive, Mike Turner retired from the Company at the end of August.

Rio de Janeiro September 1, 2008). – PETRÓLEO BRASILEIRO S/A – PETROBRAS, [Bovespa: PETR3/PETR4, NYSE: PBR/PBRA, Latibex: XPBR/XPBRA, BCBA: APBR/APBRA], a Brazilian international energy company, announces that it kicked-off the production of the first oil in the pre-salt layer, in the Jubarte field, in the Campos Basin, off the southern coast of Espírito Santo State today. The first well’s production potential is 18,000 barrels/day, and the main purpose of developing it is to obtain knowledge that will help the Company develop the pre-salt reserves located in Espírito Santo and in other places off the Brazilian coast.

Valemon is located in approximately 135 meters (440 feet) of water in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Chevron Phillips Chemical Announces Sale of Puerto Rico Core Facility

GUAYAMA, PUERTO RICO (August 28, 2008) – Chevron Phillips Chemical Puerto Rico Core LLC (Puerto Rico Core), an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC (Chevron Phillips Chemical), today announced that it entered an agreement to sell substantially all of its Puerto Rico Core’s Guayama, Puerto Rico, facility assets to Louisiana Chemical Equipment Company, LP and Louisiana Chemical Dismantling Company, Inc., which will dismantle and salvage those assets. A desire to consolidate production into Chevron Phillips Chemical’s existing Pascagoula facility, as well as high operating costs and low product price margins led to the decision to permanently discontinue operations at the plant.

The company specialises in the develop-ment and manufacture of small-scale wind power units. Their flagship product, the 6 kilowatt QR5, is a vertical axis wind turbine especially suited for local energy production in built-up areas which can be installed either on buildings or as a stand-alone turbine.
