Fiberex Glass awarded US$100 million contract by Eastern Petrochemical Company project in Jubail

Canadian company Fiberex Glass has been awarded a US$100 mln contract to provide engineering, technology and equipment for the project by Eastern Petrochemical Company in Jubail. Work is commencing on the 30 month contract; at a total cost of US$280.

Evonik and Sibur in joint venture study to review construction of PO facility

Global leader in specialty chemicals based in Germany, Evonik Industries and JSC Sibur Holding based in Moscow, have agreed to commence an exclusive feasibility study to consider the possible construction of a facility to produce propylene oxide (PO), together with hydrogen peroxide. The products will be targeted for markets in the Russian Federation. The feasibility study, to be completed shortly, will help determine possible locations and capacities.

Galoc subsea systems ready to go

Galoc Production Company, the operator of the Galoc oilfield off the Philippines, has completed the installation of subsea equipment, and mooring and riser systems for the field, joint venture member Nido Petroleum has said.Galoc is now awaiting the arrival of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel after installing the equipment in about 290 metres of water on the field, about 65 kilometres north-west of Palawan, Nido said in a statement.

Fluor bags part of planned Kuwait oil refinery contract

KUWAIT CITY, March 29, (Agencies): Kuwait has awarded construction of part of a planned 615,000 barrels per day refinery to US engineering firm Fluor, head of the state-owned refiner told the Middle East Economic Survey (MEES). The Fluor contract, covering utilities and offsite facilities, is worth $2 billion out of the projected total cost of around $15 billion, Faruq al-Zanki, chairman of Kuwait National Petroleum Co. (KNPC), told MEES.

Shell and Virent to collaborate on Biogas

Shell and Virent Energy Systems, Inc. announced a joint research and development effort to convert plant sugars directly into gasoline and gasoline blend components rather than ethanol. The collaboration could bring the availability of new types of biofuels.
