Alliant DataTel, which specializes in business phone systems, computer networks, cabling and high capacity PSTN circuits, has increased its IP telephony product lines to include Aastralink Response Point and Sutus Business Central BC200 IP phones. Alliant data tel is a certified partner for Samsung, Zultys, Microsoft Response Point, and Xblue Networks. To help businesses learn more about IP, Alliant Data Tel, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia, also offers seminars, luncheons, and product demos and showcases. It has a new sales and support office to host such events. The timing could not be more opportune as there is growing interest in IP to cut voice costs through reducing call and trunking charges, in simplifying networks, in enabling productivity-boosting unified communications, and in supporting remote workers that shrinks facilityneeds. Research firm Pike and Fischer forecasts that more than 5 million U.S.businesses will have that phone technology by the end of 2010. Michael Kirchhoff, Alliant Data Tel’s CEO, explains that many businesses are, however, not aware of the amazing advancements that have occurred in telecommunications such as IP telephony. They often learn about this when they need office cabling done during a move or renovation and require a new or updated phone system. Yet there seems to be a lot of confusion with this upgrade between circuit providers, phone systems and their company’s data infrastructure, he points out. When you add the new technology of VoIP on top; it becomes a major mountain intheir eyes. Also the sticker shock for new technology first takes them by surprise. “What we want to do is educate the end user to what their options are, utilizing their current requirements, budget, as well as their long range goals allowing them to run efficiently, while providing a cost effective solution,” says Kirchhoff. “If their budget can’t handle everything at once, we break them down in mini-projects they can get their arms around. There is no sense in doing it half way; technology only works if you know how to use it.
