Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ADIPEC 2012 takes place from November 11-14 on the theme ‘Sustainable Energy Growth: People, Responsibility & Innovation’.
His Excellency Mohamed Bin Dha’en Al Hamli, UAE Minister of Energy, will officially open the conference programme.
Covering 38,000 square metres, including a 10,500-square-metre outdoor complex, ADIPEC 2012 will be 8.5 per cent bigger than the 2010 show in terms of exhibition space.
More than 1,600 exhibiting companies and 13 national pavilions will take part, with national oil companies from around the world represented along with leading multinationals and small to medium-sized businesses.
“ADIPEC 2012 reflects the position of the UAE and its capital Abu Dhabi as a centre of knowledge, excellence and innovation, particularly in the oil and gas field,” said His Excellency Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) and Chairman of the ADIPEC 2012 conference programme.
“By bringing together such a large number of oil and gas specialists and practitioners, the 15th edition of ADIPEC offers participants an unprecedented opportunity to study the latest industry technologies and best practices.”
Simon Mellor, Senior Vice President of dmg::events, organiser of ADIPEC 2012, added: “As the world’s energy challenges have grown and as the role of Abu Dhabi and the Gulf in meeting the world’s energy needs has evolved, ADIPEC has become a hub for new thinking, more innovative solutions and the networking and business activities of a growing community of industry players.”
Mellor said: “Abu Dhabi is now at the centre of the global marketplace for oil and gas, bringing together decision makers from the region, Europe, North America and increasingly the Far East. ADIPEC has kept pace with the expansion of Abu Dhabi in the oil and gas sector and the decision to make ADIPEC an annual event from 2013 reflects the emirate’s strategic role as a reliable, secure and environmentally responsible provider of the world’s energy.”
Organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, ADIPEC’s highly regarded conference programme will examine the critical challenges involved in sustaining energy supplies after the era described as ‘easy oil’.
Industry decision-makers and global CEOs will also explore the opportunities presented by the latest technology innovations and the expanding capabilities of state-owned oil enterprises such as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, supporter of ADIPEC 2012.
HE Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, CEO of ADMA-OPCO, will deliver the opening keynote speech.
A total of 430 presentations and technical papers will be delivered during the four-day conference, selected from more than 1,500 submitted, the largest contribution in ADIPEC’s 28-year history.
Away from the conference auditorium, visitors to the 15th edition of ADIPEC will discover a variety of new exhibition features in keeping with the innovation theme of the 2012 event.
The Middle East Country Briefings, a series of in-depth sessions delivered by industry experts with the support of the Oxford Business Group, will offer new entrants into the region’s oil and gas sector invaluable advice on cultivating business partnerships and securing commercial opportunities.
Three panels covering the UAE, Qatar and Iraq will take place on day two of ADIPEC, followed by briefings on November 13 on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Also new for 2012 will be a dedicated Offshore and Marine Hall inside a 4,000-square-metre marquee representing the centrepiece of the show’s enlarged outdoor complex.
The purpose-built tent will host more than 90 companies specialising in exploration and production offshore, as well as the first ever UAE Oil and Gas Museum, complete with rare artefacts, historical documents and decommissioned equipment donated by companies involved in the country’s oil and gas sector over the last 70 years.
The grandstand area of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre will also feature an open-air section for around 20 exhibitors specialising in the heavy-duty machinery, equipment and vehicles increasingly used in modern-day upstream oil and gas operations.
An additional innovation at ADIPEC 2012, also within the show’s outdoor arena, will be the Middle East Petroleum Club, a private venue where ADIPEC’s most prestigious guests can network away from the event’s busy exhibition halls and enjoy five-star hospitality provided by Etihad Airways.
